A somber reflection...  / Bob Branch (friend)  Read >>
A somber reflection...  / Bob Branch (friend)

The engineers at End Point work from their homes, wherever that may be.  Once a year, we all have a gathering to build on our friendships and cover new ground in our work.  As long as I'd known Kevin, this year's gathering would've been the first time I'd actually gotten to meet him face to face.  It was Kevin that suggested I apply at End Point, when I was in a particularly low moment at my prior employer.  That one ray of hope has blossomed into the first time in my career I felt a job was giving me direction, rather than just paying the bills.  Every time I feel grateful for my employment here, I think about Kevin, and pass along thanks - whever he may be...

This past week had many such occasions, and many new times I found myself feeling grateful for Kevin opening the door to such a wonderful opportunity.

Kevin, you changed my life forever.

Thanks.

People move on and forget. But i never will. I still think of you every day and hope you are finally in a better place than what you found here. I still have the teddy bear that you gave me when i was around 10. I can't sleep without it. I miss you so much and its still so hard without you. I can't believe its almost been 7 months. Its unimaginable to think that your gone forever. I miss you and i love you. And i always will.

love your daughter,

Briana.

P.S.~ I finally perfected the spaghetti squash. I'll make you some when i see you again. promise.

I just recently found out about it... My deepest condolences to the family and friends... I didn't know him well and only virtually, but he has always greeted me and others with a smile and happy attitude.

He is in my prayers and so is the family. Farewell, dear friend. May you rest in peace...

While I haven't seen Kevin in a few years, I will certainly miss his company. He was a core member of the Brew Free or Die homebrew club in the 90's, and for a while the club met at least once a year at his house in Merrimack.

He especially loved making cider and mead, and his (deadly) Apple Flavored Neurotoxin was his crowning achievement. I was fortunate enough to taste it on multiple occasions. I think it was somewhere around 18% alcohol by volume (thanks to lots of Champagne yeast, which, if I recall correctly, he pitched when the regular yeast pooped out), but it was still very sweet with a strong floral aroma (he used a LOT of honey). It certainly didn't taste alcoholic, which made it all the more deadly.

A few years back, Dan Hall arranged an invitation for BFD to meet at his friends' birthday celebration / pig roast / overnight party on a lake in Raymond. Kevin showed up with a keg (!) of Apple Flavored Neurotoxin, complete with Biohazard label. As with most things, Kevin gladly shared this with anyone and everyone who wanted to try it (and there were well over 100 people there).

Kevin, I'll sorely miss you. I'll drink an Arrogant Bastard tonight in your honor.

I've known kevin for a little while and followed his work... supported him the best I could over irc or a crypto IM. Hell I even called him at 1-2am because I was worried that he'd do something stupid and to offer him some support. I offer my most sincere condolences to his wife.

May the AFS god be with you fellow coder. You will not be forgotten. Close

I found this is Kevin's nightstand.  It was not for any particular occasion.  It was just because.  We were in love and expressed that to each other all the time in many ways. I share a private a-z (with a couple of the really personal lines omitted)...

My love, My Man, My Life...

I adore you;

I believe in you;

I cherish you;

I delight in you;

I embrace our love;

You fill my life to overflowing capacity;

My most precious gift;

I honor you and us together;

You inspire me;

Jokes have new meaning;

My kindred soulmate;

I LOVE you my husband;

You mesmerize my thoughts daily;

You ARE my partner for life;

You quench my thirst in all ways important;

Your radiance shines brightly in my soul;

I salute your perserverance in all hard times and difficult situations;

Your many talents I admire and respect;

Your brilliant character and spirit is undeniably sexy;

Your virtues are endless;

I'm glad we are a WE;

xxx = oolala my lover and friend;

You are my life; and

I want you a zillion years (or more?).

I could not love you more my precious man.

a/k/a Yours!

a/k/a Wife!

Lin McBride

I feel privileged to have known Kevin. He had been using and programming computers longer than I've been alive, and he combined that depth of knowledge with a great sense of humour yet no arrogance. He was a good man, and I truly miss his wit, intelligence, and most of all, his sense of justice and fairness. Close

Here's to you, my friend  / Dan Hall (Friend)

This is shocking and terribly sad news.

Kevin and I became friends through the great hobby of home brewed beer. We started the Brew Free or Die homebrew club together back in 1991, and he was a very active and enthusiastic member in those early years. He made an outstanding cyser (apple cider mead) that he called, as only Kevin would, Apple-Flavored Neurotoxin, and it was my good fortune that he shared it with me more than once.

We bumped into each other most recently at Strange Brew Tavern in Manchester where, appropriately enough, we enjoyed a few beers and some conversation together.

I'm happy to have been your friend Kevin. I wish you peace and rest.  I'll be raising a glass to you tonight.

I already miss you so much, i always enjoyed reading your conversations in #linux especially about how you made slot cars with your son, and more recently i remember talking to you about how you went on rollercoasters all around the country and had a special pass that they give to rollercoaster enthusiasts

You seemed like a really good Dad to your kids and i wish you could have been happier in life, you were very smart and funny and i'll remember you for the rest of my life Close
